High ranking officials from Artsakh and Armenia were on hand today to participate in the unveiling of the newly renovated “We Are Our Mountains” monument in Stepanakert.
The monument, completed in 1967, is colloquially known as the Tatik-Papik (Grandfather-Grandmother) statue.
Artsakh President Bako Sahakyan thanked diaspora benefactor Karen Avagoumyan for financing the restoration.
Also at the official reopening were British House of Lords member Caroline Cox and Ashot Baghdasaryan, son of the statue’s sculptor Sargis Baghdasaryan.
