French-Armenians Pay Tribute to Compatriots Killed in WWI

Paris - On November 11, to mark the signing of the armistice in 1918, the Armenian community of France bowed to the statue of General Andranik at Pere Lachaise cemetery in Paris. A little later one second ceremony paid tribute to the dead Armenian fighters for the French Republic.

On November 11, to mark the 1918 armistice, French-Armenians paid their respects to the statue of General Andranik at the Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris.

They then paid tribute to Armenians who died fighting for the French Republic.

Mrs. George Pau-Langevin, Junior Minister for Educational Success at the French Ministry of National Education, laid a wreath at the foot of the Armenian monument in the name of France.

According to documents, 700 Armenians lost their lives on the battlefield during the First World War.
