Armenian Bar Association to Host 1st Mock Interview and Resume Workshop at Loyola Law School

Los Angeles, CA – On November 23, 2013 the Armenian Bar Association will host its First Mock Interview and Resume Review Workshop at Loyola Law School.

This event is in collaboration with the Loyola Armenian Law School Student’s Association (ALSA), the Loyola Law School and all local ALSAs.

A critical part of legal education is learning about the legal profession and taking steps toward acclimation. Law students need to learn about various practice areas as well as get to know successful legal professionals who find joy in their work and take pride in their law practice. These meetings between enthusiastic law students and inspiring legal professionals will go a long way in preparing the next generation of attorneys.  This series of programs is designed to educate and empower the students so that they will have successful careers. An integral part of this program is to have as many practicing attorney in attendance as possible. Attending attorneys may join the panelists in conducting the mock interviews and give additional advice to the students. Therefore we encourage all of our attorney members to attend and participate in this very important event.

The attorney panel will consist of:

Robert Baronian - Armenian Bar Association member and founding principal at The Baronian Law Firm, representing consumers and corporations in a wide range of individual and complex litigation matters.

Ellin Davtyan Kocharian - Armenian Bar Association member and associate counsel at L.A. Care Health Plan, focusing on healthcare, employment and public governance laws.

Garo Kamarian - Armenian Bar Association member and founding principal at The Kamarian Law Firm, primarily handling criminal defense matters.

Saro Kerkonian - Armenian Bar Association Board of Governors member and partner at Kerkonian & Chakerian, LLP, a certified specialist in workers' compensation law by the State Bar of California.

Hovanes Margarian - Armenian Bar Association Executive Board member and founding principal at The Margarian Firm, with main areas of practice focused on class action litigation, automotive fraud and defects, and criminal defense.

Tigran Palyan - Armenian Bar Association member and associate attorney at Trope and Trope LLP, a family law firm.

Armen Sefyan - Armenian Bar Association member and founding principal at Sefyan Law Firm, P.C., representing clients in bankruptcy, personal injury, probate, family law and litigation matters.

We hope that other local attorneys will join us on November 23, 2013 to help inform, educate and inspire law students about the practice of law in various fields. Expanding on last years’ efforts, this year's programs have been organized with the involvement of various Armenian Law Student Associations. Southwestern alone presently has over 150 Armenian-American students!  We also anticipate a large number of law school students in attendance from USC, UCLA, Loyola, and other law schools.

This event will be followed by our 3rd Annual Networking and Information Event for Law Students at Southwestern Law School on February 1, 2014. For further information about either event please contact Hovanes Margarian ([email protected]). Admission is complementary for both events.
