Several activists were arrested early this morning in Yerevan for putting up large signs around the city in anticipation of Vladimir Putin's visit to Armenia today.

This one reads "Freedom from Serjik-ner" - referring to Armenian President Serj Sargsyan and his ruling coalition.

Armenians are protesting the government’s September 3 decision to join the Russian-led Customs Union and pull back from the EU Association Agreement, which is widely believed to have been a result of Russian pressure and economic blackmail.

There will be a protest at Freedom Square today at 1pm.
