Gas Will Continue to be Subsidized for 'Socially Vulnerable' Groups: Minister
The cost of one cubic meter of gas will remain at 100 AMD ($0.25 USD) for "socially vulnerable groups," Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said in today's cabinet meeting.
"The price of gas that was being supplied to these families over the past two years was 132 dram per cubic meter, and we were subsidizing the 32 dram. Now that price has become 156 dram for one cubic meter. That means that we will continue to offset the 56 dram. This is why the Republic of Armenia ministers of energy and natural resources, and labor and social affairs are being entrusted to prepare a corresponding government decision and present it to us, so that we can continue to assist socially vulnerable groups, so that the increase in the price of gas for that 300 cubic meters won't apply to them and they will continue to pay 100 dram. This decision must be presented in one week's time," said the prime minister.
