
Armenia Ranks 48th In 2014 Environmental Performance Index
In the 2014 Environmental Performance Index (EPI) just released, Armenia has ranked 48th, with a score of 61.67, out of 178 countries surveyed.
The EPI, a a joint project between the Yale Center for Environmental Law & Policy (YCELP) and the Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN) at Columbia University, is constructed through the calculation and aggregation of 20 indicators reflecting national-level environmental data.
According to the EPI, Armenia has witnessed a 8.02% increase in its overall score over the past ten years.
The biggest improvements have been in the air quality and water and sanitation sectors.
Topping the EPI is Switzerland with a score of 87.67.
Neighboring Georgia lagged far behind Armenia in 101st place. Azerbaijan came in 63rd.
