Armenian Parliament Approves Natural Gas, Nixes Nairit Ad-Hoc Committees
By a vote of 75 to 3, the Armenian National Assembly today passed a bill to create an ad-hoc committee to investigate the issue of natural gas supply and pricing in Armenia.
Of crucial significance is the matter of some US$300 million in debt that Armenia owes Russia for importing the commodity.
By a vote of 55 to 44, the parliament then killed a bill introduced by the ARF to create an ad-hoc committee to investigate the issues surrounding the ailing Nairit Rubber Plant.
The plant has been idle for many months and employees haven’t been paid back wages.
