Armenian Deputy PM Calls for Cooperative Effort to Resolve Garni "Cafe" Flap

It appears that the flap over the planned construction of a café on the grounds of the Garni historical site in Armenia has reverberated in the halls of government.

Yesterday, Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan held a consultative meeting on the issue attended by the Kotayk Provincial Governor and representatives from the construction and territorial administration ministries.

Hetq has covered the story regarding the construction of the café at Garni, one of the main cultural sites in Armenia. Many in Armenia disagree with the plan to build an eatery on the site, arguing that it would defile the overall environment.

Gevorgyan has called for cooperation amongst national, provincial and local authorities to resolve the issue.
