French Authorities Arrest Father and 6 Year-Old Illegals

Davit Asryan and his six year-old son Davit have been arrested by French authorities in Nim, France, for illegally residing in the country. It seems that the family had applied for refugee status, but were refused, and had to leave France back in the autumn of 2010.

The French police got wind of the family’s illegal residency status after Davit and his girlfriend were arrested for stealing a diesel vehicle. The father told police that he wanted his son to be by his side. The boy was picked up at his school in the village of Langeac. Davit’s parents had long since left Armenia for Russia. The French press reports that they arrived in France due to "political" problems in Russia. Tigran Balayan, spokesman for Armenia’s Foreign Ministry, told Hetq that his office had received no information on the case as yet.
