Vic “Raging Bull” Darchinyan Knocks Out Mijares in the 9th Round
On November 1st, Armenian-born International Boxing Federation champion Vic Darchinyan won a decisive victory over his opponent Cristian Mijares in a bout that took place in Los Angeles. Darchinyan knocked down the Mexican favorite in the first round and then in the ninth, when Mijares went down for the count.
Darchinyan's stunning upset made him the the first man to unify the super flyweight division, adding the World Boxing Council, World Boxing Association belts to his International Boxing Federation title.
The win gives Darchinyan a 31 win (25 knockout), one loss, one draw professional record.
