Civic Program to Highlight Plight of Disabled in Armenia
The 30 day period from November 15 – to December 15 will be dedicated to highlighting the plight of Armenia’s physically disabled community with particular attention focusing on the defense of their rights as full citizens. The month-long program has been organized by the National Committee of Disabled Persons, which was founded this year. The state sponsored program will also include the participation of various non-governmental organizations in addition to government agencies. The “Huys Kamurj” (Bridge of Hope) NGO plans to organize discussions on the issue in schools and to show informative films in universities. Placards reading, “Your attitude impacts me more than my disability” will be handed out to program participants.
