Galoust Sahakyan - "Our problems with the EU aren't personal"
Today, at the Defacto Club, Galust Sahakyan, President of the Republican Party faction in the National Assembly, responded to reporters' question regarding the remarks made by Rafik Petrosyan claiming that Armenia's problems in the EU, including the possible stripping of Armenia's voting rights, was due to the unsatisfactory work carried out by the Armenian delegation headed by Davit Harutyunyan. Galust Sahakyan noted that while the Armenia does face problems in the EU they are not of a personal nature, adding that this would mean that one overvalues an individual's capabilities.
Mr. Sahakyan, in referring to the activities of PACE, noted that it wasn't correct to bring 15 people into the same room and then decide the fate of an entire nation by the vote of 10 of them. He added that the working policies of PACE, "weren't acceptable to us". While noting that he didn't agree with other Republican Party officials who have stated that if PACE denied Armenia its voice in the body it would hold no significance for Armenia, Mr. Sahakyan pointed out that Armenia was a sovereign nation ready and able to solve its own domestic problems.
