Group Claims Ministry is Slacking on Monuments Preservation
In a statement released to the press today, the civic group "We will not be silent" says that it is preparing an audio slideshow on the state of historic monuments in Armenia that will be shown next week.
The issue of monuments preservation in Armenia has been in the spotlight of late, with charges and counter charges being made by the Etchmiadzin See, the Ministry of Culture and experts in the field like Samvel Karapetyan.
The civic group takes the Ministry's Monuments' Preservation Agency to task for not following through with a directive by Etchmiadzin to draft a list of monuments needing repair and renovation and the estimated costs involved.
Etchmiadzin said such an emergency list could be then used to attract patrons and funds for the necessary projects.
