HAK Offers Platform for Opposition Cooperation

Before leaving the podium at the Matenadaran yesterday during a HAK public gathering, Levon Ter-Petrosyan laid down the following nine points as a starting point for cooperation between opposition forces in Armenia 1. Defeat the traitorous program to create a committee of Armenian and Turkish scholars which only serves to question the historical reality of the Armenian Genocide. 2. Prevent the government from making unnecessary concessions in the Karabakh conflict settlement process. 3. Restore the previous settlement formula, as established by the OSCE Budapest summit, according to which the NKR was a full and equal party to the negotiations process. 4. Free all political prisoners and business owners who have been a targeted by the tax department. 5. Create an independent, international committee to examine the events of March 1, 2008 or either restore the Fact Finding Group, incorporating international experts on its panel. 6. Expose those truly guilty of the March 1st events and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. 7. Radically reform the electoral process. In particular, do away with multi-party election commissions and have the RoA Police or Ministry of Justice assume full responsibility for the holding of elections. Implement a finger-marking procedure in all elections to prevent double voting. 8. Abolish all economic monopolies and extend the tax regime to all large business owners. 9. Implement the demands required by the European Court and PACE resolutions.
