Attempt Made to Fell Tree on Charents Street; Ministry Inspectors Visit Site

enviroment_23.09.09Upon receiving a complaint that someone tried to cut down a tree yesterday evening located next to the Jasmine beauty salon located on Charents Street in Yerevan, Karen Papoyan, Deputy Chief of the State Environmental Inspectorate at the Ministry of Nature Protection visited the scene of the attempted crime this morning.

He recently reported that, "I am standing right next to the tree. It’s a healthy, green tree with roots going down the foundation of the building. There’s a circle of white lime around its base. I will direct our inspectors to follow up and see what has happened."
When we asked Mr. Papoyan if the cut inflicted on the tree would increase the possibility of rotting, the deputy chief said that he would request that professional arborists come and inspect the damaged tree. Mr. Papoyan is now trying to find out who tried to fell the tree and why. "The people at the beauty salon have denied culpability. Let’s now look for other possible suspects." The photo shows who the culprit was and his accomplices. Passersby note that all involved are linked to the Jasmine beauty salon.
