Serop Der-Boghossian Paid $25,000 to Entice Boys
When the trial of American-Armenian businessman Serop Der-Boghossian recommenced today, one of the boys with whom he is alleged to have sexual relations with testified that over the years he received 3 million AMD from the wealthy owner of Metal Prince Ltd.
Prosecutor Aram Amirzadyan told reporters that the defendant, Der-Boghossian, is alleged to have had sexual relations with underage youth as far back as 2000, and then again in 2005 and 2006.
The Metal Price owner is also alleged to have continued such relations with some as late as 2009.
Prosecutor Amirzadyan also said that according to testimony to date, the largest onetime payment made by Der-Boghossian to "curry the favours" of certain boys amounted to $25,000.
So far, none of the boys who have testified have confirmed that physical violence was employed by Der-Boghossian. However, some have said that they were in a financially dependent relationship with the businessman.
The prosecutor said that the one boy who testified today offered nothing of substance and appeared to be withdrawn.
Amirzadyan made the point in court that the "victims" had been transported to the trial in a Metal Prince SUV staffed by the company's security personnel.
The witness who testified did not deny that he and his mother were driven to the court in the car but declared that it had nothing to do with the criminal case.
Amirzadyan added that while the witness denied that he was the one appearing in the sex tape and that he engaged in no such acts, Der-Boghossian did confirm it.
The trial will continue today.
