Benita Ferrero-Waldner, European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy, in a response to a letter addressed by MEP Sylvie Guillaume regarding the plight of jailed Javakhk Armenian activist Vahagn Chakhalyan ,stated that she was following the trial , now taking place in Georgia, via the EU’s delegation to Tbilisi. Ms. Guillaume is a member of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament and serves on the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs.
