PM Sargsyan Gives Go-Ahead for Digital Programming; Public Hearings to be Scheduled
At a government session held today, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan gave the go-ahead for the eventual digitalization of radio and T.V. broadcasts in Armenia. The PM called for the creation of an inter-ministerial committee to draft a procedural agenda for the conversion and gave it a one month deadline to conduct public hearings on the matter.
The government argues that the move to digital transmissions will not only improve the quality and reception of radio and T.V. programming in Armenia but that it will also spur technological development and economic competition.
