
Today, Gagik Yeganyan, Director of the RoA Department for Migration and Refugees, stated that recent figures issued by Turkish government officials as to the number of RoA citizens illegally working in Turkey were incorrect.
“Recently, the Eurasia Foundation in Armenia conducted research into the issue and their findings show that during the eight year period from 200-2008, there was a net outflow of migrants from Armenia to Turkey amounting to 5,238 individuals.
On December 9-10, RoA Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan headed an Armenian delegation to Geneva to attend a meeting dealing with migration issues. At the session, Mr. Gevorgyan described the situation of migrants in Armenia and steps being taken by the government to resolve some of the problems they face.
