What Lies Ahead at the 7th Annual Golden Apricot Film Festival?

The Golden Apricot Film Festival boasts a rich non-competition program this year and will host a number of famous people from the world of cinema. The Festival will open with Henri Verneuil’s film, Mayrig (Mother).  Three films by Verneuil will be screened to celebrate the director’s 90th anniversary.  The films will be presented by Patrick Malakyan, Henri Verneuil’s son. The highlight of the cultural program of this year’s Golden Apricot Film Festival is the Jazz-Kino competition of jazz bands with a band playing on each evening of the festival, from 11 to 17 July, at Charles Aznavour square.   Monetary prizes have been planned for the jazz competition and the total prize money is worth around US$ 6000. One of the main stars of Mayrig, famous Italian actress Claudia Cardinale, is also among the guests of honor for the festival. Like previous years, the 7th edition of the Festival also features a rich program with retrospective screenings, featuring big names such as the Chairman of the Festival Atom Egoyan, as well as other renowned directors.
