FBI promises to provide specifics as to number of Armenians involved
At a meeting today between RA Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan, Kevin Donovan, an attaché with the U.S. FBI, and Steve Kesler, Permanent Legal Advisor to the U. S. Embassy in Armenia, the FBI representative promised to present precise information to Armenian law enforcement as to the number of Armenians and RA citizens arrested in the recent Medicare insurance scam in the U.S.
Mr. Donovan reiterated that 73 individuals had been charged with various criminal offences in the Medicare scam and that a total of 32 had been arrested on October 13. He said that the criminal group had falsified the existence of 188 medical clinics and the estimate of fraudulently received money reached $162 million
The FBI representative welcomed the willingness of the Armenian authorities to assist in the investigation and said if such assistance was deemed necessary the U.S. will surely make a legal request at the appropriate time.
The two sides concluded the meeting by agreeing to an exchange of information regarding the case.
