PM Sargsyan Pleased with Ministers' Anti-Corruption Plans

Says the plans will be given a public hearing via the web At today’s cabinet session, RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan began his address by touching on the steps that have been taken since he issued stern directives to various ministers to step up anti-corruption measures in their agencies. PM Sargsyan had singled out the Ministries of Agriculture; Education and Science; Health; and Finance as problematic in terms of corruption risks. Today, PM Sargsyan claimed that the Armenian public had generally welcomed this initiative and that the government must closely monitor the situation. He said that Armen Ashotyan, Minister of Education and Science, had drafted a plan to improve anti-corruption measures within the ministry and that it should be given a public hearing before implementation. PM Sargsyan said he had been encouraged to hear from various university student councils, expressing their willingness to assist in the implementation of such measures. It appears that the plan drafted by Health Minister Harutyun Kushkyan will also be given a public hearing sometime next week via the government’s website.
