On January 11, Armenia’s Prime Minister convened the first meeting of a jubilee commission tasked with preparing events to mark the 125 anniversary of Armenian political leader and freedom fighter Garegin Nzhdeh. Prime Minister Sargsyan personally chairs the commission. Garegin Nzhdeh was born on January 1, 1886 in the village of Kznut, Nakhichevan. He died in a Soviet prison camp in December 1955. In 1983, Nzhdeh's ashes were secretly brought to Soviet Armenia for burial.
