Staff Changes at National Picture Gallery

According to Hetq sources, Hasmik Harutyunyan, the Deputy Director of Armenia’s National Picture Gallery has been sacked and Armen Gasparyan, Chief of the Painting Department, has been demoted. A Hetq source within the RA Ministry of Culture says the staff changes were due to a government directive to get some younger people working in management positions at the Gallery. Mr. Gasparyan will now serve as a senior researcher in the painting department and will be replaced by Lilit Sargsyan, who has been working for months at the Ministry of Culture’s Department of Modern Art. Both Gasparyan and Harutyunyan had given interviews to Hetq in a series of articles focusing on the state of Armenia’s museums.
