On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the birth of Armenian writer Hrant Matevosyan, the theatrical premiere of "Tzarer" (Trees) based on the author’s short story is being performed at the Gabriel Sundukyan Theater in Yerevan. Director Davit Hakobyan from the State Musical Chamber Theater has been invited to stage the play. "There is always the desire to interact with Hrant. I’ve always wanted to stage his work but never had the time to find the right theatrical situation since most people know Hrant through the cinema," said Davit Hakobyan. The play is a mono-drama and based on a mother’s monologue to her son. Director Hakobyan has cast the actress Greta Mejloumyan in the part of the mother.
