Police, Protestors, Scuffle Outside Government Building
Heritage Party MP's get shoved around by cops Police used force this morning to break up a demonstration in front of the Government Building in Yerevan. The protestors were former street vendors irate over the decision by Karen Karapetyan, the new Yerevan mayor, to ban such sidewalk commerce.
Heritage Party MP’s Anahit Bakhshyan, Armen Martirosyan and Zaruhie Postanjyan attempted to intercede between the police and protestors, and a pushing match erupted. During the encounter, Anahit Bakhshyan became queasy and was rushed to hospital. MP Martirosyan was shoved to the ground by the police who succeeded in pushing back the protestors to the far sidewalk where they plan to remain.
