The Sardarabat Movement, an opposition civic group in Armenia, has voiced its support of Raffi Hovannisian’s "Fast for Freedom". The group applauds the courageous step taken by Hovannisian, leader of the Heritage Party" to speak truth to power and to transfer the opposition’s focal point back to Opera’s Freedom Square, the site of a brutal police crackdown on peaceful protesters on March 1, 2008. Sardarabat says Hovannisian’s personal act of resistance can trigger a truly pan-national program for regime change and unity of the country’s disparate forces seeking democracy and justice.
