Pashinyan Denied Right to Correspond, HAK Charges
The opposition-based HAK (Armenian National Congress) has issued a statement condemning the fact that jailed editor and activist Nikol Pashinyan has been effectively denied any right to correspond with the outside world since he hasn’t been provided with suitable writing material at the Artik penitentiary.
HAK says this flies in the face of promises made by the prison authorities and is in direct violation of Pashinyan’s constitutional rights. The political group goes on to say that such treatment by the authorities is proof positive that Pashinyan is being persecuted for his political beliefs and that those responsible for this "shameful" act will be called to account before the law.
