Yerevan’s “Prisoners’ Hospital"

Yerevan’s “Prisoners’ Hospital"  is the only medical correctional facility in Armenia.

It has eleven units and some are housed in a building that was built in 1828. The operating theater, renovated in 2004, is housed there. The newest unit is the drug and alcohol abuse ward opened in 2008.   247 people work at the facility (76 of which are medical staff) designed to hold 415 patients.

When Hetq visited the hospital there were 200 patients and most didn't want to be photographed.
