
Hetq Journalist Awarded Prize for Coverage on Human Trafficking
The 2014 annual award for coverage of and combat of human trafficking, initiated by the Council on Trafficking Issues in the Republic of Armenia, took place at the UN Office in Armenia today.
The expert jury decided not to give a first prize in the television and radio category, instead awarding second prize to Anna Hayrapetyan, a journalist with the Public Television's Azat Goti ("Free Zone") talk show, for her program "21st Century Slavery," and third prize to ArmNews journalist Gohar Aramyan, for her reportage "The Term Trafficking: A Dead End to Life."
In the print and online media category, first and second prizes were not awarded, while third prize was given to Hetq journalist Yeranuhi Soghoyan for her article "They Want to Expel Nelly from the Village" (in Armenian only).
The prizes come with monetary rewards: 300, 200, and 100 thousand AMD for first, second, and third place, respectively.
