Armenia to Prosecute Azerbaijani Infiltrators as Criminals, not War Prisoners
Armenia’s Ministry of Defense, in a statement issued today, claims that a group of Azerbaijanis who infiltrated into Artsakh was recruited by Baku officials solely for the purpose of creating mayhem and the local population for diversionary purposes.
The ministry says the group, which it claims has been destroyed, violated all the rules of accepted warfare and conducted acts of brutal inhumanity in the Karvatchar region before being broken up by Armenian military forces.
As such, the ministry argues that they cannot be considered prisoners of war.
The ministry says that those members who were captured will be prosecuted on criminal charges in accordance with international standards.
