ARF MP: Russian Arms Sales to Baku Result in Heightened Agression
ARF MP Artzvik Minasyan today told reporters that President Sargsyan’s comment to the Argentine La Nation newspaper last week that Armenia was concerned about arms sales to Azerbaijan was more a result of recent incidents on the Artsakh frontline.
Minasyan was referring to official reports by Armenia’s Ministry of Defense and the Artsakh Defense Army that an Azerbaijani unit had infiltrated Karabakh in the Karvatchar region.
The member of parliament said it was his belief that the recent increase in Azerbaijani aggression was predicated on years of Russian arms sales to Baku.
Minasyan said that while Sargsyan’s response was late in coming, it behooved Armenia to prove to the international community and Russia that Azerbaijani arms purchases are intimately tied to Baku’s on=-going aggressive stance.
