Vachagan Adounts yesterday assumed the role of mayor of Goris, a town in Syunik Province.

Adounts won the June 8 mayoral election with 61.6% of the vote.

Syunik Provincial Deputy Governor Ashot Mardyan was on hand at the swearing in ceremony to wish Adounts success as mayor of the town of approximately 23,000.

Adounts told Hetq that his top priority as mayor would be to improve garbage collection, the problem of stray dogs and street lighting.
