Truck Driver in Monday's Deadly Accident Charged with Violating Traffic Rules
The driver of a truck involved in Monday’s road accident that claimed the lives of seven microbus passengers has been criminally charged with “violating traffic and vehicle operating rules.”
In the early evening on November 10 a serious car accident occurred along the Yerevan-Gyumri highway at the main intersection in the village of Horom, where a Gazelle minibus collided with a Kamaz utility vehicle. As a result, the Gazelle exploded.
If found guilty the driver of the Kamaz, M. Vardanyan, faces 4 to 10 years imprisonment.
Investigators say that Vardanyan, entering the intersection from a secondary road, failed to yield to highway traffic and plowed into the oncoming Gazelle.
