"Blind Dates: New Encounters from the Edges of a Former Empire"

New York based art critic and curator Neery Melkonian will present a discussion of the project - "Blind Dates: New Encounters from the Edges of a Former Empire"

Date: Friday October 28, 2011, at 4pm

Place: American University of Armenia, Baghramyan 40, New Paramaz Avedisian Building, First Floor Conference Room (Room 133W)

The first installment of the Blind Dates exhibition opened at Pratt Manhattan Gallery in New York City, on November 19, 2010.

At the heart of this group exhibition are thirteen new collaborative artistic projects that bring together an international roster of established and emerging artists, and other practitioners from Armenia, Bosnia, Greece, Israel, Lebanon, and Turkey, with their transnational counterparts in Europe and the United States. Produced especially for this curatorial undertaking, these research-based projects explore attachments to images, voices and histories, which collide with existing taxonomies of nation-states, art histories and identities.

Additional information can be found on the project website: http://blinddatesproject.org/.

The event is open and free to the public.
