President Sargsyan Hosts U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Wide-ranging Discussion
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan today hosted Victoria Nuland, the Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs at the United States Department of State.
President Sargsyan expressed the hope that the visit of Nuland to Armenia would give new impetus to high level Armenia-U.S. dialogue.
The Armenian head of state stressed the importance Armenia places on the role played by the United States regarding ensuring security and stability in the region, and especially as a co-chair country in the OSCE Minsk Group.
Victoria Nuland told Sargsyan that the United States was very interested in assisting Armenia in issues related to economic development, democratization, political reforms and the strengthening of civic society.
Nuland noted that Armenia had made positive strides in these areas.
During the meeting, the sides discussed international and regional challenges, issues about Armenia’s domestic and foreign policy, and commemorations planned for the upcoming 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
