Lifer Seeks Redress in the Courts Re: Conditional Release

Stepan Grigoryan, serving a life sentence in Armenia’s Nubarashen Detention Facility and now in his sixth day of a hunger strike, has petitioned the courts to overturn a decision by the prison authorities to postpone, by one year, a review of his conditional release.

Grigoryan’s father has again written to President Serzh Sargsyan on behalf of his son. He writes: “Mr. President, I’ve been in this hell for twenty years now. I have a right to early release according to current law. I have no nefarious violations to my name nor have I killed anyone…”
