No Trees Cut: Yerevan Municipality Refutes Municipal Council Member's Claim
Trees are a pretty precious commodity in Yerevan, Armenia’s capital.
So when someone attempts to cut one down, the alert spreads quickly throughout various social media networks.
Anahit Bakhshyan, a Barev Yerevan faction member who sits on Yerevan’s Municipal Council, raised such an alarm earlier this morning, claiming that trees were being cut down around the Santa Fe café located opposite the Hovhannes Tamanyan statute in the Cascade Complex and that workers were pouring cement at the site.
The news immediately spread. So much in fact that Yerevan municipal officials saw fit to respond.
At around 4p.m., the Yerevan Municipality issued a statement refuting Bakhshyan’s claim.
The municipality said that it dispatched a team to the site and that no trees had been cut.
