
Yerevan's Metro Turns 35
Yerevan’s Metro, named in honor of Karen Demirchyan turned 35 this year.
Demirchyan was the First Secretary of the Armenian Communist Party when metro opened to the public on March 7, 1981.
There were just five stations operating initially – Baregamutyun, Marshall Baghramyan, Yeritasardakan, Republic Square and Sasountsi Davit.
Today, the metro services ten stations with 45 wagons. The entire line is 12.1 kilometers long.
