Child trafficking charges have been filed against a doctor and a nurse at a Yerevan medical center arrested on June 8 on suspicion of organizing the purchase and sale of a baby born in April.

Dr. Karineh Antonyan and nurse Goharik Khachatryan have been charged with child trafficking and document forgery. The two have been placed in pre-trial detention.

The mother of the newborn has also been charged with trafficking but hasn’t been detained pending trial. She has signed an affidavit not to flee.
