Florence / Washington DC, November 17, 2011. Matteo Pegoraro, co-president of EveryOne Group, has just finished an interview on the radio of Washington DC "Voice of America" on the plight of refugees in Sinai.
Matteo told the American public the tragedy of sub-Saharan refugees in northern Sinai, with the extraordinary humanitarian effort that led to the liberation of 611 Eritrean prisoners who had both mediatic aspects, than political, legal and related to human rights. The many questions the interviewer asked the co-president of EveryOne consent to him to illustrate the stages through which the organization and its humanitarian partners has obtained a primary advisory role for the UN, the EU institutions, NGOs and the Egyptian government.
The activist, solicited by the journalist, also recalled how born the EveryOne Group, with its humanitarian innovative strategies, the ability of investigation, the constant updating and monitoring of the places where they carry out campaigns. Matteo has not forgotten the extraordinary role that had the Egyptian activist Hamdy Al-Azazy, the ICER, the NGO Gandhi, and all the NGOs working to save the lives of refugees in the Sinai. A few hours before the interview, other refugees were released, while about 1000 Bedouins agreed to be trained by police, army and intelligence services of Egypt, to combat trafficking effectively.
The interview for "Voice of America" led in the U.S. the latest updates on a problem that until recently seemed impossible to solve. Yet, thanks to new protocols of the nonviolent activism, the impossible becomes possible, day by day. As Matteo told to the interviewer, now the Egyptian government is near the work of the EveryOne Group and the network that works with the organization, to allow both the police, to the special bedouin force (even this reality, a project strongly pursued by EveryOne, who has never stopped proposing it to the Egyptian authorities) to prosecute traffickers, dismantle their nests, freeing prisoners and restore democracy and civilization in the Northern Sinai.
