Prison Prohibits Nanor Sefilian From Visiting Activist Husband
Yerevan police prohibited the wife of arrested opposition activist Jirayr Sefilian from visiting him in jail today where he’s awaiting trial on illegal arms trafficking and possession.
Hetq spoke to Sefilian’s wife, Nanor, who said that she went to the Vardashen Correctional Facility to see her husband today but was told she couldn’t.
Nanor Sefilian said she had been visiting her husband two monthly prior to today.
Mrs. Sefilian told Hetq that guards with automatic weapons were patrolling the perimeter of the prison when she arrived.
Sasna Dzrer, the armed group that seized a Yerevan police building on Sunday, are demanding the release of Jirayr Sefilian and others it describes as “political prisoners”.
