Levon Ter-Isahakyan, acting head of the Department of Veterinary and Livestock Agriculture of the Ministry of Agriculture, told Hetq that he has been informed about an alleged outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in the Lori community of Margahovit and that steps are being taken to verify the news.

The other day, Margahovit Mayor Samvel Ananyan contacted Hetq with news of the outbreak.

Ter-Ishkhanyan said that all livestock in Margahovit had been vaccinated and that his office hasn’t received any disease reports from the community.

Hovhannes Mkrtchyan, from the ministry’s Food Safety Division, told Hetq that experts have been dispatched to Margahovit and are conducting health tests.
