1851 Stone with Armenian Lettering Uncovered in Kharpert

A stone, most likely a tombstone, dated 1851 with engraved Armenian writing was unearthed recently during excavation work in Kharbert/Harput Turkey, according to the Istanbul-based newspaper Agos.

The Elazig Municipality has been conducting restoration work at the Red Church in Kharberd.

Work is underway to translate the writing.
