Soldiers Curse and Threaten Ambulance Crew

Today, at around 1pm, the Erebuni Medical Center got an emergency call and rushed to Azatutyun Avenue.

“It was a real emergency so we turned on the siren for motorists to give us the right of way. There was this one car that kept cutting us off. He followed us all the way to the hospital,” the emergency doctor photo-reporter Gagik Shamshyan.

Shamshyan says the doctor told him that when the ambulance arrived at the hospital, the driver of the car and the one passenger got out and started cursing and threatening them. The doctor says they were soldiers.

“When I said I was going to call the cops, they made some more threats and left. Our patient was dying and there we were dealing with those guys,” said the doctor.

Alarms on ambulances are meant to warn pedestrians AND drivers to YIELD to the emergency vehicle and not take advantage of it to speed forward. Do these unyielding drivers realize it could be them or one of their loved ones that will need to be rushed to the hospital on some other time? Incidentally, where is the police to reinforce the right of way for these ambulances?
