Twenty years ago today, Turkey officially recognized the sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia, but failed to establish diplomatic relations with Yerevan.

Instead, Ankara set a number of conditions for diplomatic relations that dealt with international recognition of the 1915 Genocide and Artsakh.

The two neighboring countries have not established diplomatic relations since.
