Criminal Cases of False Testimony Rising in Armenia
Armenia’s Special Investigative Service (SIS) has publicly stated its concerns about the rise of false testimony incidents.
“Despite our numerous pronouncements providing false testimony, or serving as a false witness, is a criminal offense, many citizens continue to present false reports,” the SIS writes.
The SIS has been collecting data on false testimony cases since 2015 when 33 criminal cases were heard.
In 2016, the number of false testimony cases rose to 44.
As of June 12, 2017, 36 false testimony cases have been launched.
