Garni Residents Caught Electroshocking Trout in Khosrov Reserve
Today, while extinguishing the remaining fires in the Armenia’s Khosrov Forest State Reserve, units of the Ministry of Nature Protection and forest wardens came upon a jeep containing 533 trout and an electroshock apparatus.
An investigation concluded that the two individuals in the jeep, both Garni village residents, had just used the apparatus to kill and capture the trout in a nearby river.
The trout were seized and a criminal indictment against the two is being prepared.
Large tracts of the Khosrov Reserve have been damaged by a fire that ignited on August 12.
