Armenian Hosts Pianist Evgeny Kissin, a "Beloved Friend of Armenia"

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan today hosted classical pianist Evgeny Kissin, who is visiting Armenia to attend the 18th Yerevan Perspectives music festival.

Welcoming Kissin, Sargsyan noted that people in Armenia not only appreciate his talent, mastery, and wonderful performances, but that he is also beloved for his human characteristics, referring to the pianist’s support in the aftermath of the 1988 Spitak Earthquake.

The president described Kissin as a beloved friend of Armenia.

Sargsyan also thanked Kissin for his participation in a New York concert dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

Kissin conveyed his love and respect for the centuries-old culture and history of the Armenian people, promising to visit Armenia throughout his life.
