907 lawyers in Armenia have signed a declaration protesting the inclusion of a regulation in the country's Judicial  Code that would allow the courts to fine lawyers, this according to the Chamber of Advocates.

“We, the lawyers who have signed this declaration, regard the legal regulation in the bill to modify Armenia’s Judicial Code as unacceptable,” the document reads.

The lawyers contend that the regulation is not backed by any substantiation as to why judges have been allowed to impose penalties on attorneys
